Foundry Applications

Metal Ladling

Aluminium Pressure die casting and Gravity die casting require precision ladling for consistent shot weights and reduced scrap. Robots equipped with custom ladles, servo tilting mechanisms,  heat shields and thermocouples ensure very high consistency and improved quality.

Sand Core Handling

Sand core handling is a very delicate task and robots are perfectly suited for this application. Fragile, heavy and complex shaped cores can be handled by robots with precision. Large sand cores used in commercial truck engine blocks can weight upto 400Kgs.

Investment Casting Slurry Dipping

Slurry dipping of investment casting wax patterns is a fatigue inducing job for operators. Robots equipped with special free rotating end of arm tools make the slurry dipping and coating process very repeatable. This results in minimal coating defects and uniform shell thickness.

Grey/SG Iron Casting fettling

Grey and SG Iron casting fettling is a mandatory operation prior to machining. This process is very labour intensive. The dust generated during grinding and the risk of injury during long hours of fettling poses a serious health hazard.

Aluminium PDC & GDC Component fettling

Operator fatigue and injury associated with the high heat environment and the smoke inhalation can be avoided by deploying robots. Typical cycle times of 6 -7 seconds can be achieved for extraction.

Machined Component Deburring

Precision deburring of machined components is a strenuous and boring job for operators. VMC’s and HMC’s can produce components in large numbers and all of these components require deburring before assembly.
